Why Baby Hair Loss?

My articles  |  Hair loss problems seem not just an adult problem. The newborn was also able to experience the same thing. But you should know that hair loss in infants is generally normal.

Babies tend to lose their hair early in life. Just as in adults, infants also experience hair growth period and the rest. In the case of a newborn all the hair follicles enter a period of rest at the same time. But there are certain conditions that can cause hair loss in newborns. The following causes of hair loss in infants:

* Tinea capitis, commonly known as ringworm of the scalp and is a fungal infection that is often seen in children. This looks like patches of scaly and may look like black dots on the scalp.

* Alopecia Areata, this is a condition that causes hair loss allegedly caused by the immune system attacks the hair follicles.

* Trichotillomania is hair loss as a result of strong encouragement for the hair pulling.Trichotillomania is a compulsive behavior, which may stem from the presence of emotional stress or physical stress.

* Sleeping position. Sleeping in the same position for hours at a time can be one cause of infant hair loss.

* Stress, fever and hormonal changes. Approximately 5 to 15 percent of hair on the scalp will usually experience a resting phase at any one time. But stress, fever or hormonal changes can cause large amounts of hair stops growing at the same time. Dating the baby's hair generally begins when entering the stage of growth at around the age of three months.

* Malnutrition: Vitamin H or Biotin is one of the vitamin B complex which helps the body to convert carbohydrates into glucose to fuel the body. Zinc, an essential mineral, which is involved in various aspects of cellular metabolism. It also supports the growth and development of the baby's hair during pregnancy, childhood and adolescence.

Endocrine problems: In some children, the causes of hair loss is caused by hypothyroidism. A condition where the thyroid gland is underactive and the low amount of thyroid hormone to meet metabolic needs.

To overcome the problem of hair loss in infants, you can work around this by the following means:

* Use a pillow on your baby with a horseshoe shape.

* Massage with oil. Massaging your baby's head with oil did not prevent hair loss, but may assist in blood circulation in the scalp.

* Shave. Shaving hair does not mean there's no guarantee the baby hair to grow thicker or less kerontokannya. But with the hair shaved at least there is the possibility of having no hair loss at all.

* If possible you can try to change the baby's sleeping position after some time.

* If your baby's hair loss continues, better consult your pediatrician and let the doctor in charge.
